Inhalt The seminar will focus on settled, emerging and forthcoming issues in the study of religion and immigration in western societies. The seminar discusses issues related to the settlement processes on immigrant religion and how they are shaped by the surrounding society. Furthermore, it discusses the rolge of wider transnational and global developments in politics, media and economy, and how these create challenges and opportunities for religious groups of immigrant origin. Specific attention is provided to how different immigrant generations experience their position in society and how that is reflected upon religious matters. The seminar draws on contemporary literature in the fields of religion, immigration and migration. The student should be familiar with undertanding elementary features on religion and immigrants after the course.
