This course focuses on current issues of public international law. These may include, inter alia, nuclear non-proliferation, the peaceful use of nuclear energy, peace and security questions, responsibility to protect, the “race for the arctic” and the issue of state responsibility for violations of international humanitarian law. As the course will be held in a seminar-like style, i.e. emphasising class discussions, active participation in the class is expected. In addition, guest lectures may give further insights into the questions discussed in class. |
