This course develops and applies tools and methods for the valuation of firms and other assets. Central topics include: Measuring and forecasting cash flows; firm valuation using the discounted cash flow (DCF) and adjusted present value (APV) method, measurement error, relative valuation and multiples, valuation of young and private firms, and mergers & acquisitions. |
| Lernziele |
Students know the state-of-the art valuation methods. They are familiar with relative valuation and the discounted cash flow approach. Students can make reasonable financial projections based on historical financial statements as well as analyst forecasts and industry reports. Students know the main drivers of firm value. They are familiar with the challenges when estimating continuing value. Students know how to value small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) and understand the specific valuation problems—as well as their solutions— in the context of startups. |

Bachelor students 6th semester and master students are allowed to join the lecture. |
