This course focuses on research methods as techniques and attitudes that allows us to inquiry and understand the world better. To know anthropological research methods is to understand the self and in turn, to understand anthropological methodology.

In this seminar, we will use and discuss material which covers key concepts in ethnographic research methods, and encourage self-reflexivity, ethical conduct and an awareness of research practice. We explore and discuss ideas such as participants observation, the field, fieldwork, fieldnotes, interviewing. It includes practical exercises, (e.g. interviews, kinship diagrams), and short fieldwork assignments.
