This seminar explores the essential role of health communication in promoting health equity and reducing health disparities. We examine how tailored communication strategies can address unique needs and overcome barriers, .e.g., to healthcare access. By understanding these needs, participants will learn how to design communication interventions that effectively engage different audiences, ultimately advancing more inclusive healthcare practices. The seminar underscores the importance of strategic messaging to foster equitable healthcare access and empower all individuals in making informed health decisions.
By following a hands-on empirical approach, students will get the chance to investigate and identify unique needs within vulnerable populations and for sensitive topics. The course provides a platform to understand and practice translating these insights into concrete communicative concepts and interventions. In doing so, the seminar aims to elevate awareness and cultivate the skills required for these challenging communication tasks. Students will gain experience in this highly relevant context and acquire a toolkit of resources that enables them to craft nuanced messages and interventions. |
