Inhalt This course provides an interdisciplinary introduction to global health, with a focus on low- and middle-income countries. We will explore the most pressing disease and health care problems, and critically discuss efforts to address them. The course will identify the main social, environmental, political and economic factors that shape global health, and discuss its development from a historical perspective. We will further examine the role of major stakeholders in global health, such as international health organizations, governments, and civil society. Using case studies, students will develop knowledge of successful health interventions and remaining challenges in global health.
Lernziele After completing this course, students will be able to:
- Describe the current factors that shape global health
- Identify global burden of disease and social determinants of health
- Describe the history of global health in relation to current health priorities
- Critically assess existing health policies and formulate practical solutions to global health issues
- Identify key actors in global health and discuss their role
- Develop in-depth understanding of major health indicators and health-related challenges in a specific country
