| Inhalt |
Emerging from Kant’s transcendental philosophy, German Idealism stands as one of the most influential movements in modern philosophy. The aim of this course is to develop a historical and philosophical understanding of German Idealism including its central ideas, major figures, and evolution within the broader context of modern philosophy. We will engage closely with key sections of foundational texts, beginning with Kant’s Critique of Pure Reason, and trace how transcendental philosophy was interpreted, transformed, and expanded by Fichte, Schelling, Hegel, and other influential thinkers in the tradition. We will follow Frederick Beiser’s German Idealism: The Struggle Against Subjectivism 1781–1801 as a guiding text. |
