From climate breakdown to artificial intelligence and global conflict, our age is haunted by visions of apocalypse. Yet the end of the world also invites us to imagine what might come after. This seminar examines how political theory responds to crisis and catastrophe, and how thinking about endings can illuminate questions of freedom, justice, and power. Through readings from classic and contemporary theorists, we will explore apocalyptic, utopian, and dystopian visions of society, asking how imagination itself can become a tool of critique and transformation in an era of global uncertainty. |

Interpret and critically engage with political theories that address crisis, catastrophe, and the idea of the end of the world.
Analyze how concepts such as apocalypse, utopia, and dystopia shape different ways of thinking about political and social life.
Reflect critically on how political imagination can serve as a means of critique and transformation in times of global uncertainty. |
