This seminar examines the role of psychology in political science, focusing on how psychological factors shape political attitudes and behavior. It introduces key areas of political psychology, including personality, emotions, affective polarization, and values, and connects them to contemporary issues, such as conspiracy beliefs, political leadership, and party preferences. The course further discusses methodological approaches, such as survey experiments and the measurement of psychological traits, to illustrate how psychological theories can be applied in empirical research. Students will gain a deeper understanding of how psychological mechanisms inform political behavior and decision-making in real-world contexts. |
