Inhalt Not only in the state of an economic crisis European and international competition law becomes spefically relevant even for Swiss entreprises in order to prevent market distortions. After an introduction into EC law, the course will take a look at the EC rules on competition law. A focus will be on merger and cartell law. Furthermore, according to the bilateral treaties between the EC and Switzerland the rules on public procurement refer to the WTO. This serves as an entry to an overview on Switzerland and the EU in the frame of international economic law.
Lernziele Objectives are to provide for basic knowledge of the EU and the WTO; theoretical foundations of competition law and their effects in practice; knowledge of EC merger and cartell procedures; economic and legal significance of public procurement procedures; an idea of their effects on doing business in Switzerland and the EU.
Voraussetzungen Basic knowledge of EU law is welcome, but no precondition.
