Inhalt The course prepares for the Moot Court competition before the Court of Justice of the European Union (ECJ). The teams will submit written pleadings on a case covering actual issues before the “real” ECJ. In the past years teams of the university have consistently qualified for the second round, where the pleadings are presented orally before a “Court”. The second round takes place in major cities across Europe or the USA. Last term the Lucerne team also qualified for the oral phase of the competition which took place in Madrid. The first 2 teams will be invited to present their case before the real ECJ! The Moot Court competition is an unique possibility to learn about the practice of law, and has an extremely high reputation among law firms. Students will be guided by coaches experienced in the Moot Court and will be trained in basic EU law as well as in representing oral arguments. Test trials will be held at law firms in Lucerne and Zurich. Last term the team also met with the University of Fribourg in order to present their oral pleadings in a mock trial before to fly to Madrid. The performances could well serve as basis for a “Masterarbeit”.
