Inhalt The course prepares for the Moot Court competition in European Law. The teams will submit written pleadings on a case covering actual issues before the Court of Justice of the European Union (ECJ). From all the teams registered for the competeition, only 48 teams will qualifiy for the oral round which takes place in major cities across Europe or the USA. The Grand final itself takes place at the ECJ in Luxembourg. Since their first participation in 2007, teams from the university of Lucerne have consistently qualified for the regional finals, and had the opportunity to present their pleadings orally. Last term was no exception. The team qualified for the oral phase of the competition, flew to Lund (Sweden) and even qualified for the semi final at the regional final. The Moot Court competition is a unique possibility to learn about the practice of law, and has a extremely high reputation among law firms. Students will be guided by coaches experienced in the Moot Court and will be trained in basic EU law as well as in representing oral arguments. The team will also meet with the University of Fribourg in order to present their oral pleadings in a mock trial before flying to their regional final. The performances could serve as basis for the writing of a “Masterarbeit”.
