Inhalt |
This course is an introduction to EU consumer law. The EU has put in place what is arguably the most advanced system of consumer protection worldwide. The course will cover the main instruments, such as the Unfair commercial practices direcvtive and the Unfair contract terms directive. We will also study consumer protection online and discuss recent legislative changes. Throughout the course, students will be invited to reflect on the orientation of existing rules (How are the various aims balanced? What are the underlying pressupositions?). Findings from behavioural sciences which shed light on consumers’ decision making will be introduced and we will discuss whether and how the law should integrate such findings. |
