Weitere Daten The course is a mandatory Basic Course (1st semester).
Umfang 2 Semesterwochenstunden
Inhalt This course introduces basic epidemiological and statistical concepts and procedures for the collection, observation, and analysis of health-related data. Topics include measures of disease frequency, association and causality, observational and experimental study designs, and basic methods of descriptive and inferential statistics. Students will learn how to critically read published epidemiological studies, understand the underlying research designs, elements of the empirical analyses, and conclusions drawn from the studies. Students will gain hands-on experience in using statistical software to analyze real-world data.
Lernziele The learning objectives of the course are: (i) learn how to calculate and interpret measures of disease frequency, effect and association; (ii) know the main research designs used in epidemiological studies; (iii) demonstrate an understanding of the basic concepts of descriptive and inferential statistics; (iv) develop hands-on experience in data management and analysis using statistical software; and (v) be able to critically appraise published epidemiological studies.
