Inhalt This course offers a thorough investigation of the politics of climate change in a comparative (cross-national, international and to some extent also sub-national) perspective. The course advances introductory knowledge of climate politics and policy, which some students may have acquired at the undegraduate level.

We will begin by examining domestic views on the state of climate change and possible paths along which these views might change and thus political support and opposition for climate change management and decarbonization may arise. We will consider climate politics at various different levels of political behaviour and organisation, starting with individual-level interests and values, before moving up the organized politics of industrial lobbies and climate movements. We will then move on to the climate change positions of political parties, governmental institutions and other authorities that affect domestic climate policy but also international climate agreements. At each level we will consider what drives political preferences for climate action and what implications these have for the global battle against climate change.

Lernziele - To provide students interested in the climate crisis with the necessary analytical foundations to discuss and criticize climate politics and policy.
- To engage with a wide range of theoretical and empirical research materials related to climate politics and climate policy
- To generate ideas and a research design to study contemporary climate issues in a comparative and rigorous fashion.
