Inhalt International environmental law has emerged as one of the fastest growing areas of public international law. Originally created by States for States to address problems arising between States, it has moved beyond this and has become part of global governance. This course offers a critical account of the history, key concepts, governance structures and regulatory techniques of this branch of public international law. In addition, we will have a closer look at particular subject matters and their management by the international community, including climate change, atmospheric protection, oceans, freshwater and biodiversity.
