Inhalt This lecture will discuss the history of kinship studies, which have been the core of the anthropological science for a century until they diversified into less formalistic and more actor-oriented and embodied analytical modes of studying human ways to think, experience and construct relationships based on the idiom of kinship. A historical approach to kinship will allow traversing the various theoretical paradigms that gradually enriched the anthropological perspective, as well as elaborate the major conceptual tools that have been developed to account for sociocultural diversity. The lecture will aim at rendering one of the most complex domains of anthropological analysis accessible to a wide and diverse audience and provide insights into the diversity of human societies.
