Inhalt This course consists of five sessions spread over three days (October 7th, 8th, and 9th). It will explore broad themes related to the intersection of law and globalisation through a socio-legal lens. The primary goal is to equip participants with key legal and social science concepts, as well as empirical examples, to support research on law and globalisation and to deepen the understanding of law’s role in addressing global challenges. We begin with an introduction to the sociology of law. The next two sessions will delve into a concrete example of a transnational legal field by exploring the emergence and evolution of international arbitration. We will then address the crucial question of whether an international organization such as the International Court of Justice can stabilize the global field of international law and, if so, how. The course ends with a case study of the legalization of the Internet.
