Inhalt - Historical and clinical epidemiological foundation of evidence-informed health sciences
- History of evidence in medicine, nutritional and sports sciences
- Evidence-based practice in nutritional and sports sciences
- Hands on training on meta-analysis methods
- Group work, student presentations and discussions
Lernziele - Theoretical and practical understanding of the principles and methods of gathering evidence, specifically in nutritional and sports sciences
- Knowledge of the historical evolvement of medicine, biomedical research, nutritional and sports sciences
- Develop skills to critically evaluate and synthesize research findings.in nutritional and sports sciences
- Present and discuss systematic reviews and meta-analyses effectively
- Foundations of evidence-based nutrition practice
- How nutrition guidelines are developed and used
- Critical interpretation of Swiss nutrition guidelines (BLV)
- Sports nutrition for performance and recovery
- Appraisal of evidence through practical case studies

Hinweise The course structure includes morning lectures, afternoon group work, and student presentations on specified dates.
Students are free to organize themselves in groups and select a coordinator for their presentations. They have the freedom to decide on the theme and focus of their presentations as long as they are relevant to evidence-based health sciences.

Material All teaching material is provided via the e-learning platform Moodle.

The teaching material is based on PowerPoint slides, videos, scientific articles or selected book chapters. Students will be provided with eight short articles as a starting point for their presentations.
