Block Course |
| Inhalt |
Most teaching cases are built on large, well-documented companies. Real project work often looks different: little has been published, the client’s own data is patchy, the brief is vague, and a recommendation is due within days. This course trains students to work in that situation – to focus quickly, take the few building blocks available, and turn them into a compelling argument for management.
The course follows the arc of a consulting project: framing the problem and working with hypotheses, building an evidence base where little information is available, selecting the insights that matter, and turning them into a storyline and a slide deck that stands on its own as a document the client can keep working with.
The course also prepares students for the field course “Doing Business in Rwanda”, but is self-contained: the working methods apply wherever a recommendation has to be made with limited information and limited time. |
| Lernziele |
By the end of the course, students are able to:
• define a problem from a vague brief and narrow it down by working with hypotheses;
• build an evidence base where little information is available, within a tight time budget;
• distinguish data from insight and select what is relevant to the case;
• develop a storyline and a slide deck that convinces a management audience and works as a standalone client document;
• present and defend a recommendation, and work effectively in a team under time pressure. |
