The lecture aims at developing an understanding of the unique supranational order by offering an access to substantive European Law. The approach combines practical work with judgements with a systematic approach, thus the literature will be mostly English but includes some additional articles in German. First, the focus lies on exploring the basis of European Law and, second, on discovering the loopholes and how the EU and Member States are filling them.
A great challenge for students will be the language of the course. In a step-by-step approach interaction during the lecture will be developed by alternative modes of teaching. And, yes, there will be references to German and/or Italian legal terminology as appropriate. Thus, students will be prepared for studying abroad and discussing issues of European Law in English as well as becoming familiar with the German and/or Italian terminology (see lectures on "Zurück in die Zukunft". |
